Great Britain: The city, the garbage and the rats

In Birmingham, garbage collectors have been on strike for months. And the higher the garbage piles up, the clearer the gap between rich and poor becomes.

Between all the black bananas and moldy oranges, the crushed McDonald's cups and crumpled Amazon boxes, the dented beer cans and worn-out T-shirts, the full diapers and empty bottles, the dirty mattresses and broken refrigerators, the gray plastic bags and white shopping bags, in this confusing pile of garbage that accumulates here, rancid and stinking, only one thing becomes more and more visible from day to day.
