Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek won the tennis tournament in Cincinnati for the first time, thus celebrating a successful dress rehearsal for the US Open. The Pole defeated world number eight Jasmine Paolini of Italy 7-5, 6-4 in the final. After trailing 3-0 in the first set, Swiatek took control and ultimately celebrated the 24th tournament victory of her career.
"This means a lot to me. I really wanted this this year," said the 24-year-old, who has already won the French Open four times. Three years ago, Swiatek also won the US Open singles title.
