Hubertus Heil congratulated the new district administrator of Gifhorn on his decisive election victory. His words demonstrate that the two share a close friendship.
Hubertus Heil congratulated the new Gifhorn District Administrator, Philipp Raulfs, on his decisive election victory. At Platform X, the SPD politician emphasized his personal connection to the 36-year-old.
"My friend Phillip Rauls [sic], as SPD candidate, confidently wins the district election in the Gifhorn district in the first round with over 53 percent! Congratulations dear Philipp and thank you to my Gifhorn SPD for a great election campaign!!!" wrote Heil.

Raulfs clearly won the election on Sunday . After counting all 211 voting districts, he received 53.60 percent of the vote. His rival, Telse Dirksmeyer-Vielhauer of the CDU, received 25.40 percent, and Stefan Marzischewski-Drewes of the AfD followed with 18.99 percent. Voter turnout was 48.71 percent.
The new district administrator is a member of the state parliament and mayor of Hillerse. He succeeds Tobias Heilmann, who died unexpectedly in May. The district administrator's term of office is eight years.
