The cost of travel, it turns out, isn’t just about where you go, it’s also about when. Go2Africa’s report, which analysed millions of hotel bookings worldwide, found that travelling in the right month can save you up to 83% on accommodation costs.

While December is the most expensive month to travel globally, due to holidays and peak tourism, May shines as a sweet spot for smart travellers.

Botswana leads the pack on savings this month, followed by other budget-friendly African gems like Malawi, Mozambique, and South Africa, all offering generous discounts as the tourist season gears up.

May is an ideal time to visit Botswana. It marks the beginning of the dry season, with cooler temperatures and fewer mosquitoes, making it perfect for safari adventures.
