Iga Swiatek will not be allowed to keep the Venus Rosewater Dish after winning Wimbledon for the very first time.

Champions are not permitted to take the trophy home with them. Instead, they are given a scaled-down replica to keep for themselves.

Swiatek handed the real trophy over to Sally Bolton, chief executive of the All England Club, shortly after the presentation ceremony.

Jannik Sinner's coach Simone Vagnozzi has provided an update on the elbow injury the Italian has been dealing with at Wimbledon.

During his fourth-round match against Grigor Dimitrov, he slipped in the opening game and required treatment after hurting his elbow.

Pressed for an update ahead of today's final, Vagnozzi said: "We’re managing it. It’s getting better every day.

“When you’re on the court, during the match, it’s not even easy to understand what’s happening.

"Then we did an MRI and several tests. He’s managing it well and is focusing on what he can do."

When asked if Sinner was taking painkillers, Vagnozzi replied: "I’d rather not go into details."

Iga Swiatek sent a pointed message to her doubters in the media after beating Amanda Anisimova to win her first Wimbledon title.

She said: "For sure the past months, how the media sometimes describe me, and I got to say unfortunately Polish media, how they treated me and my team, it wasn't really pleasant.

“I hope they will just leave me alone and let me do my job because obviously you can see that we know what we are doing and I have the best people around me.

"I have already proven a lot. I know people want more and more, but it's my own process and my own life and my own career."

Novak Djokovic believes Carlos Alcaraz has a narrow advantage over Jannik Sinner heading into today's Wimbledon final.

"I think I will give a slight edge to Carlos as a favourite because of the two titles he's won here and the way he's playing and the confidence he has right now," said the veteran Serb.

"But it's just a slight advantage because Jannik is hitting the ball extremely well.

"I think it's going to be, again, a very close matchup like we had in Paris, yeah."

Daria Kasatkina has waded into a row on social media after the standard of women's tennis was called into question.

Some viewers were left unhappy with Iga Swiatek's wide margin of victory against Amanda Anisimova in yesterday's final.

Kasatkina was quick to stand up for women's tennis in a pointed reply to a female fan who had complained about the standard of play.

On X (formerly Twitter), she clapped back: "I love women but not all of them."

There was no sign of any tension as Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner bumped into each other in a chance meeting at Wimbledon.

They crossed paths near the practice courts on Saturday and happily greeted each other in spite of their growing rivalry.

A brief handshake was exchanged with the pair all smiles in a great display of sportsmanship.

There won't be much room for pleasantries when they step on the court later today, though.
