Ilya Kharun takes centre stage when he competes in the men's 200-metre butterfly final at 7:50 a.m. ET on Wednesday.
"I can definitely go a lot quicker," Kharun said after the race.
"My plan … was just to make it into the final. I hadn't really pushed myself until that final 50. It was alright, I've just got to be quicker [Wednesday]," he said.
After a day off on Thursday, Kharun returns for the 100m semifinals on Friday, where he'll encounter Canadian competition in the form of Josh Liendo. The two shared the Paris podium with Liendo taking silver and Kharun earning bronze.
"I've been chasing Josh every time we race during trials or in college at NCAAs," Kharun said. "It just makes it fun."

Summer McIntosh, the superstar teen from Toronto, returns to the pool on Wednesday morning looking to qualify for the women's 200m butterfly final on Thursday.
The 19-year-old continues her drive for five gold medals at these world championships having already won the 400m freestyle on Sunday and 200m IM on Monday.
Reporter Devin Heroux will be on site in Singapore speaking to Canadians following their races, and will join The Ready Room show live on YouTube every day after finals, with Brittany MacLean Campbell hosting from Toronto. The show will include Canadian highlights, athlete interviews and analysis.
Competition continues through Sunday morning.
