Sky Sports F1's Ted Kravitz yells 'what an idiot' as Lewis Hamilton issue missed

Sky Sports reporter Ted Kravitz has called himself an 'idiot' for missing the crucial moment which saw Lewis Hamilton disqualified after the Chinese Grand Prix. Hamilton, who had won Saturday's Sprint race to claim his first victory since joining Ferrari, was sixth across the line on Sunday, but had his points and an all-time record ripped away from him due to excessive plank wear.
The rear skid block on his car was found to be under the minimum thickness which the FIA set out in their technical regulations - by just 0.1mm. His disqualification compounded a nightmare day for Ferrari, as team-mate Charles Leclerc also lost points due to his car being underweight like that of Alpine driver Pierre Gasly.
Sunday's post-race drama occurred while Kravitz was live on air taking viewers through the Shanghai paddock during his Notebook show. Although he walked right past the Ferrari garage, where Hamilton's car was in the process of being checked by an FIA official, the Sky reporter unwittingly turned a blind eye.
Discussing the incident on Sky's The F1 Show, Kravitz said: "It's turned out 'Scoopy McScoopface' Kravitz here missed the two missed the three disqualifications that I was looking at straight in the face... go back to the notebook and watch the bit when I go outside the Ferrari garage after the McLaren photo.
"Suddenly, Fred Vasseur (team principal) is there and I say, 'There's Fred Vasseur talking to the chief engineer'.

Why is he with the chief mechanic and why is there FIA guy in the garage looking at Lewis Hamilton's car? And why is Lewis Hamilton's car up on stands with someone looking at the plank?'
"I'm such an idiot, Simon (Lazenby, presenter), look I've screen grabbed it, there you go... I had the story on the Notebook and I did nothing with it... Not only did I miss that story, Simon, but I also missed the fact that Gasly and and Leclerc's were cars were segregated in parc ferme being measured for not being on the weight limit."

Kravitz later admitted: "I'm coming clean now... What an idiot I am! Why did I miss those big stories while I was looking at them showing them on the Notebook?"
Despite the Sprint win, Hamilton has had difficult start with his new team, collecting just a single point in the opening two Grands Prix of the 2025 season. The former Mercedes star will be desperate to respond with at least a podium finish at next weekend's Japanese Grand Prix which is part of a triple-header alongside Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
While Hamilton hasn't commented on the disappointment of his disqualification, Leclerc posted on his Instagram account: "Last weekend was really tough. We've got to reset and work hard to turn the situation around in Japan and I'm sure we will.
"A big thank you though to the amount of support you gave me during the weekend, it always surprises me to have such support in China and it means a lot."
