Tyrone kept on course for a fifth consecutive All-Ireland Masters football title after defeating old rivals Dublin on a 3-11 to 0-10 scoreline yesterday at Kingspan Breffni.

The holders’ strong start in Cavan Town saw Johnny O’Neill sending over their first point in the opening minute and they’d have the ball in the capital men’s net minutes later via ace Stephen O’Neill who finished from close range.

Dublin responded with a Bernard Brogan free and they’d go on to add more points via Declan Lally and seven-time All-Ireland SFC winner Brogan before the would-be winners came into another dominant spell.

Barry Daly palmed in his side’s second goal before Michael Anderson and Barry Collins registered points, as the Ulster side went in with a commanding lead at the break.

Stephen O’Neill (free) and Gareth Smith traded points after the change of ends and the Dubs would get two unaswered scores ahead of giving away a penalty which Red Hands talisman O’Neill dispatched expertly.

Dublin couldn’t close the gap in the closing quarter, as the holders’ 10-point now sees them awaiting either Donegal or Sligo in the Mick Loftus Cup decider after the latter two neighbours played out a draw in Scarden on Thursday night.
