Meath Star Helps Cavan Side End Long County Title Drought After Club Transfer

Kingscourt Stars claimed their first Cavan senior title in a decade yesterday, overcoming a much fancied Gowna side on a scoreline of 2-16 to 0-13. Having entered the game as sizeable underdogs, a top class performance from Meath inter-county star Jordan Morris would have a telling impact on the contest.
This fixture was a rematch of the 2023, an affair which Gowna would comfortable. They would have 17 points to spare over Kingscourt Stars on that occasion, although the result would be reversed two years on.
Despite being 4/1 underdogs as recently as last week, Kingscourt would lead by as much as 12 points at one stage in yesterday's final. They would go on to win by nine in the end, with one relatively recent addition to the club having playing a massive role in the victory.

Meath Star Helps Cavan Side End County Title Drought After Club TransferJordan Morris joined Kingscourt Stars for the 2023 season, having moved from Meath's Nobber.
The move was one that saw Morris return to the club where he had spent his formative years, having only moved to Meath in his childhood. His transfer back to the Cavan club caused some controversy at the time, although speaking in 2023, Morris summed up why he felt the move was one he had to make:
As I got older, I felt I had something to give to Kingscourt, even though I really enjoyed playing for Nobber. I was in school in Kingscourt, all my friends were there. My family all played for them as well. I’m just happy to be back with them...
There’s no hard feelings on my end. I think Nobber knew at some stage I’d be moving back, it was just a case of when.
Morris was part of the Kingscourt side that suffered that heavy defeat in the 2023 county final, although he helped to ensure there would no repeat of that result on this occasion.
The forward ended the 2025 decider with a personal tally of 0-9, including this stunning two-pointer.
