Farrell steps down as Dublin boss after Tyrone defeat

Dublin manager Dessie Farrell has stepped down from his post following this evening’s All-Ireland SFC quarter-final defeat to Tyrone.

The Dubs bowed out of the Sam Maguire Cup race after suffering a 0-23 to 0-16 loss at Croke Park, which sees the Red Hands joining Donegal in tomorrow’s semi-final draw after the Ulster champions defeated Monaghan (1-26 to 1-20) earlier at HQ.

Farrell confirmed to GAA+ that it was his last game at the helm with the capital men, having spent the last six seasons in charge during which time he steered the team to two All-Ireland success in 2023 and 2020 along with five Leinster titles.

The Na Fianna clubman informed his players in the dressing room after the game of his decision not to seek another term, meaning that Dublin are now on the lookout for a new senior football manager for next season.
