Sean Brady will miss Cork's opening game of the All-Ireland SFC series against the Leinster SFC final runners-up after his appeal against a one-match suspension was upheld.
The Ballygarvan clubman was issued with a straight red card by referee Barry Tiernan at the start of extra-time in Cork's Munster SFC semi-final extra-time loss to Kerry for what was deemed to be a high shoulder on opponent Joe O’Connor, but replays showed the challenge was closer to the chest area.
The Kingdom also had Paudie Clifford sent off for a high challenge and he will miss this weekend's Munster SFC final as a result.
Brady took his case to the Central Hearings Committee, only for his appeal to fail.
