Your Freeview TV may stop working this weekend as important advice issued

Anyone using Freeview could face yet another weekend of disruption. This latest alert follows three other warnings that have been announced over the past few months and could leave some with a picture that looks far less pixel-packed than usual. The signal troubles are being caused by another band of high pressure, which is now hovering over the UK and won't budge until Monday morning.
"Freeview viewers across parts the UK could see some disruption to their TV reception from Thursday 02nd July to Sunday 5th July 2026," Freeview confirmed in an update.
"This is due to high pressure weather conditions which could disrupt the TV signals which Freeview uses."
According to the BBC, the current conditions affect homes due to that high pressure, which weakens signals from local transmitters by lifting them higher into the atmosphere.
Signals from more distant transmitters can also travel further than usual. This can be a problem as it then interferes with local broadcasts, making TV screens fuzzy and glitchy.
If you are one of the unlucky ones, then it's wise to follow some important advice and leave your TV alone.
"You are advised not to retune your TV during this time, reception will be restored once the high pressure passes," Freeview added.
If this fourth outage is making you think about changing TV providers, it might be worth checking out Freely.
Developed by the same organisation behind Freeview, Freely delivers content via broadband connection rather than through traditional terrestrial broadcasts.
That means it is not ever affected by weather-related interference including high pressure.
There are other bonuses of Freely. The service provides access to more than 50 live and on-demand channels, alongside features such as being able to pause live TV. There are also personalised recommendations, and an interactive programme guide showing what's on now and coming up next.
