Where Is Yellowstone Star Luke Grimes in the Eddington Trailer?

When Ari Aster debuted Hereditary, he terrified audiences. (Possibly forever.) The director went on to ruin our midsummers—then, he made Beau very afraid. Now, Aster is back with a new film titled Eddington, which is described as a modern Western set during the early COVID-19 pandemic. American politics circa 2020? Now that’s what I call horror.
The film follows Joe Cross (Joaquin Phoenix), the controversial sheriff of Eddington, New Mexico. In a new teaser released by A24, Cross is shown doomscrolling on his phone following an announcement on social media that promptly goes viral. I’m thinking it has something to do with a headline he scrolls past that reads, “Law and Order’ Sheriff Assaults Protestor in Town Rocked By Murders.”
Everyone in town has an opinion on Cross’s actions, including his wife Louise (Emma Stone), Mayor Ted Garcia (Pedro Pascal), and some sort of televangelist named Vernon Jefferson Peak (Austin Butler). The verdict? Chaos. Eddington will reportedly pit Cross against Mayor Garcia in a political struggle that turns the town into a violent powder keg.
The film hits theaters on July 18, 2025. First up, Eddington will host its world premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival in May. I’m sure calm and rational discourse will follow. Eddington also features Luke Grimes (Yellowstone), Deirdre O'Connell (The Penguin), and Clifton Collins Jr. (Westworld). You can watch the trailer above.
Grimes’s character remains under wraps for now, but the Yellowstone star told us back in December that working with Aster was on his bucket list. “If I tried to explain it in a logline it wouldn’t make any sense,” he said of Eddington. “Ari’s movies aren’t an easy pitch.”
