When it comes to design-forward outdoor chairs that are easy to care for and look at, no one does it like Tupelo. All the shapes take inspiration from the heavy hitters of modern design; they wouldn’t look out of place in a MoMA exhibit.

That said, they are decidedly unfussy and perfect for your pool, patio, or fire pit. The company comes from the industrial-design world. The founder is an original designer for YETI, and most of the team is composed of YETI alums. That means the main focus, beyond how they look, is how they function. The chairs are made of marine-grade plastic, so they’re lightweight, nearly indestructible, waterproof, sun and snow resistant, and ridiculously simple to clean—hose them off and you’re good.

If you’re really intentional about design, Soho Home is your go-to. The Celia outdoor lounger is pulled from Soho House’s Farmhouse location, and it has a very ’70s look and feel.
