By now, we know that Sasha Obama is the queen of Y2K fashion, often seen sporting anything from chunky belts to her trusty belly button piercing. However, the latest trend from the naughties that she's chosen to pluck from is definitely more on the niche side and we are so here for it. Introducing: the toe ring revival.
Earlier this weekend, Sasha Obama was seen arriving at a friend's house in West Los Angeles wearing the most quintessentially Y2K 'fit of the 2020s, complete with the understated jewelry trend on her feet.
Obama was photographed rocking a navy maxi skirt, a piece that seems to be a staple in her wardrobe, paired with a cropped white baby tee, aviator-style tortoise shell sunglasses, a slouchy brown bag, and her go-to $26 Havaianas flip-flops.

All in all, Sasha Obama's latest summer uniform is simple but effective. However, she decided to add an edge with her choice of jewelry. On her arms, she wore multiple beaded bracelets, which also take us back to the '00s, and, on her feet, she added a slew of statement silver jewelry that shone bright against her neutral choice of footwear.
Obama rocked four toe rings in total: a thicker band and a dainty circle design on the index and middle toes of her right foot and what appears to be two silver bands on the middle and ring toes of her left foot.
Though toe rings have remained a staple in many cultures around the world, often as part of wedding ceremonies in India, their influence in mainstream fashion and the pop culture zeitgeist has definitely dipped since their peak in the late ‘90s and early ’00s, when celebs donned them left and right.
