Not Even Jennie (of Blackpink) Can Save the Chanel Fall 2025 Pre-Collection Campaign From Mediocrity

The suspense is surmounting for Matthieu Blazy to unveil his highly anticipated first Chanel collection as creative director in October. Until then, the powers that be at Chanel HQ remain reluctant to usher in any form of change – especially when it comes to the brand’s advertising campaigns. Jennie (of Blackpink) is ushered in as the face of the Fall 2025 pre-collection, who signed on the dotted line as brand ambassador back in 2017. Fresh from making an appearance alongside Dua Lipa in the Chanel 25 handbag campaign, the K-pop sensation takes to the lens of photographer Craig McDean (who shot Gracie Abrams for the Spring 2025 pre-collection campaign offering). The famed South Korean singer and rapper is captured around the historic Palais Royale, with the campaign storied around the idea of Jennie embarking on a Parisian getaway following a world tour.

“This could not be more pedestrian. Plus, don’t get me started on the styling,” exclaimed WAVES upon checking out the campaign.

“A new low for Chanel. St. John catalog! Bye,” critiqued a less than impressed PDFSD.

Creative wasn’t a fan either. “Nobody will make me believe that they came up with this genuinely. It has to be a plan to put the brand’s image at its lowest and make Blazy the savior. This is just so ugly,” they voiced.

“Makes me laugh that this probably cost 1M+ to produce. Only to get Jennie in 5 spots of Palais Royal that are within meters from each other,” laughed Thefrenchy.

“For what it’s worth, the campaign looks chic even though with Jennie (who is beige) and the kind of photography (which is also beige), is quite boring. You need more dynamic photography and people when you are doing basics,” shared Lola701.
