North West's Latest Look Reconfirms This Is The Trendiest Bag Right Now

Say what you will about North West, but there's no denying that she's more than certain about what she likes, and her latest outfit is the perfect proof.
On June 11, North West was spotted on an ice cream run in Calabasas wearing an all-black look that she completed with a Balenciaga Le City bag, further solidifying its status as one of the trendiest bags of the year.
The soon-to-be 13-year-old was seen on The Commons complex wearing Balenciaga motorcycle boots, a black pleated skirt, and a zipped-up Napoleon-style jacket. She finished off her look with her trademark blue hair, inspired by Hatsune Miku, worn in a braided lattice crown that tapered into high pigtails, cascading into waves with the rest of her long hair. She also wore a pair of blacked-out shield-style sunglasses. But the pièce de résistance was undoubtedly her bag. (You can see the look here.)
North West's love for Balenciaga bags is well documented. In the past, she has rocked everything from Le Cagole style (more than once) to the famous Le City bag in small. This latest addition to her collection is perhaps her most classic and versatile yet: a larger-size black piece, a staple coveted by many Y2K collectors. Sticking to her monochrome aesthetic, she made sure her pick was still unique, opting for black hardware, which is harder to come by.
North West is also not the only one fascinated with this style of bag. Blue Ivy has also given it her stamp of approval, rocking a denim version of the Le City at the Super Bowl. In fact, the bag's popularity has skyrocketed so much among young, fashionable stars of late that it's even earned a top spot on eBay's Watchlist Trend Report.
The good news? Since Balenciaga's Le City bag was a Y2K favorite, there are plenty of affordable secondhand options on sites like eBay, Vestiaire Collective, and TheRealReal, so you can also tap into the Gen-Z and Gen-Alpha-approved trend without breaking the bank as much. (Pro tip: There are also plenty of similar styles with the same vibe that are usually even more affordable!)
