ITV star warned 'don't wear that again' after controversial clothing choice

ITV presenter Shivi Ramoutar, who returns with Jimmy Doherty for a new series of Jimmy and Shivi's Farmhouse Breakfast on Saturday April 19, has admitted one of her clothing choices on the last season of the show led to a slew of warnings from fans.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk alongside Jimmy the 40-year-old mum of three admitted she tries not to pay attention to comments about the show on social media. However she conceded she took notice when one of her Instagram posts suddenly had a lot of comments issuing advice.

"I (prefer) Instagram (to X as) I find it a genuinely more holistic social media site, you get less attacks. But last year the most messages I had (on a post) was after one of the episodes where I wore a outfit that had pineapples with on it. I had people say, don't wear that on a cruise ship!" she exclaimed. I must have been the only person who didn't know about the meaning of pineapples upside down," she laughed.

Shivi was referring to the fact that an upside down pineapple on a cruise ship can indicate that you are open to "swinging". In recent times thanks to viral TikTok videos the secret code has become public knowledge.

Pineapples aside while Shivi may not read the comments about the show herself she was thrilled with one which a producer shared with her.

"Obviously we hope it's lovely comments. I'm not actually on Twitter, but (last year) one of the producers did say (someone commented: 'Who would be watching is this? Is this kids TV? Is this adult TV?'

"That is right up the street of what I want people to comment. I want the interest," Shivi said.

"I think we're really privileged to have this job. It's incredible. We've gone from Sunday morning to Saturday morning, which is brilliant, because we have to give you all the inspiration for your weekend.

"Of course, it's nerve wracking. But I also think that there's been nothing like this really before.

"It's so different to the sofa shows, and it's just a breath of fresh air.

"And it actually, genuinely is a breath of fresh air, because we're actually outside," she pointed out.

Jimmy and Shivi's Farmhouse Breakfast returns on ITV and ITVX on Saturday April 19.
