10 Good-Looking Coffee Tables With Storage Space

Fluted design is having a moment right now, but fluting done wrong can look really cheap. (See: Most fluted furniture on Amazon.) This is an example of it being done perfectly, by one of our favorite furniture brands, Arhaus. The mixed-material design makes this coffee table look smart. And unless you look very closely, you’ll miss the two spacious pull-out drawers, where you can hide your non-aesthetically pleasing board games and video game controllers.
As a home writer, I get tired of looking at round or short, rectangular coffee tables, so I like this long silhouette because it’s more unique. You can also pick between three base finishes and two top finishes. I’m personally partial to the Bluestone and Mocha design combo.

Who said coffee tables had to be boring? This storage coffee table from Castlery features two rotating panels that reveal hidden storage inside. You can fit some magazines and books inside. I personally like to have choices when it comes to my furniture, and the Andre can be positioned any way you like it, according to a review, the panels can shift up to 270 degrees each. You just have to gently rotate one or both of the panels to make your living room’s design feel fresh. The white contrasted with natural wood also creates an interesting visual juxtaposition.
Just be aware that the panels can only support a maximum of 15.4 pounds, so you have to be careful how much you load up the top of the coffee table. Reviewers also mention that this is not a table you can put your feet on, because the rotation doesn’t have a locking mechanism. If that’s a must for you, I recommend checking out other options on this list.

Lift-top coffee tables can be real eyesores, but I love them for their practicality. Sometimes (honestly, most of the time), you just want to work or eat a meal on your couch. Thankfully, this one from Article is stylish, functional, and also pretty affordable. This coastal coffee table doesn’t just lift-up either. It also works on a hinge, which makes throwing clutter into it last-minute before guests arrive a breeze.
You will need to whip out some tools to assemble this table, but Article says it should take about 15 minutes. That’s quite reasonable for a coffee table with two different mechanisms. As far as finishes go, you can select from white oak, walnut, and smoked oak.

The drum-style coffee table is my least favorite, because it usually screams “ I’ve got a bunch of crap and clutter inside here.” When hunting for a coffee table for this category, I was picky. This option from West Elm is the only one that fits the bill, in my opinion. I liked that it came in metal finishes, specifically the Cerused White and Champagne Bronze, which I think is stunning and distinctive enough to distract from the fact that you probably have a throw blanket or two pillows in there. It’s a statement coffee table that’ll add more texture to your space.
The coffee table also features discrete and elegant fold-up handles that make lifting the top easy. You can turn down the handles when they’re not in use. There are a total of two sizes and four finishes available, so you can find something to suit the size and style of your space.

In 1980, this industrial coffee table was designed to disrupt the furniture marketplace. Designed by Joseph D'Urso, the table marries function and style. There’s an open shelf for your iPad, remote, and chargers. There are invisible caster wheels underneath for easy moving that also make this table appear as if it were floating. Made out of stainless steel, this table is meant to both stand out and blend in, because the high gloss stainless steel literally reflects the other furniture and decor that surrounds it.
At just under $5,000 in black or red and $6,000 in regular stainless, this piece is definitely an investment. If you're shopping in this tax bracket though, it's a competitive price. Plus, you’ll get your money’s worth based on how many compliments it’ll receive. You can pick between three base finishes and three glass colors. I love the combination of the stainless steel and wired glass, which also helps take eyes off any clutter below.

If you like simple, functional silhouettes, the Palma coffee table from Anthropologie is for you. Honestly, it’s a little understated for Anthropologie, which is one of the reasons why it’s such a gem. This U-shaped coffee table by Taracea achieves storage without requiring any pulling of drawers, lifting of tops, or shelves. It’s visually striking, and you can make it even more so by carefully curating a stack of coffee table books, arranging some pieces of art from your latest travels, or even displaying awards you want to show off on the bottom shelf.
It is available in neutral or black, which means that it can camouflage into nearly any design aesthetic that you have.

Alright, this technically isn’t a coffee table. It’s a cocktail table, according to Jonathan Adler. But it’s styled like a coffee table would be in front of a sofa, so for all intents and purposes, it’s a coffee table for this list. Actually, a cocktail table sounds more glamorous anyways, much more Jonathan Adler that's for sure.
Anyway, this two-level tempered glass table is ringed with clear acrylic and brushed brass. It’s stunning and looks even better in person. As a brand, Jonathan Adler is all about showing off your best vibrant and most eclectic pieces (see: the giant purple snail). This table is the perfect two-tier pedestal for that. It should be treated with similar care. It is glass, after all—perhaps not something you want to eat your Doordash off of.

If you want a coffee table that has a truly unique look, check out the Penida from The Citizenry. Woven out of rattan, this wicker coffee table has a thin opening along the top and sides that looks tailor-made to slide a few magazines, books, and remote in. Maybe that’s just my brain as a big reader, who is constantly trying to find a new place to stash things in my one-bedroom apartment, but I think it’s a subtle solution.
With furniture increasingly feeling cheap or ill-made these days, it can be nice to support a business that makes everything by hand, like The Citizenry. Sometimes handcrafted furniture can take weeks to ship, but this piece is in stock and ready to head to its new home right now.

If you live in a small apartment like me, sometimes the main qualifier in furniture shopping is: Will it fit in the four feet between my sofa and TV? This mid-century modern pick from Wayfair checks that box while also providing storage. The two-tier, open-storage model might look a little basic, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need in your space. It costs a little over $115, so you don’t have to splurge on a decent design.
That said, it is from Wayfair. You’re going to get what you pay for. The site says it’ll take you 20 minutes to assemble it yourself, but I’d double it.

For those who want to live out their Nancy Meyers beach house dreams, then you know you need this storage coffee table from Serena & Lily. The checkered woven pattern on the two tiers contrasted with the spiraled legs and knotted feet is just so visually interesting. It’ll look best in a coastal-inspired space, but you could make it a more Ralph Lauren coastal and look good anywhere in the country. It could also look at home with boho and maximalist rooms, so it's got some range. And though this table may appear delicate, it can hold up to 50 lbs., so you can load it up with flowers, trinkets, a blanket, and heavy coffee table books.
This table is also relatively compact, so it can fit in both large or small spaces. Plop it in front of your sectional or loveseat to ensure your beverages are within arm’s reach.

Amount of Storage:
Do you want a little storage? Do you need a lot of storage? If you’re someone who has a collection of coffee table books, then you’ll want one with more real estate. On the other hand, if you’re a minimalist who doesn’t have much clutter to speak of, you can get away with less. You should also think about whether you want open storage, where everyone can see what’s on or in your coffee table, or if you want hidden storage.
Size and Footprint:
Measure before you even click on one of these coffee tables. You don’t want to fall in love with one and then realize it’ll take up your entire living room. Know how big or small you want your coffee table to be.
Design Style:
This comes down to personal preferences, so I picked a wide selection of coffee tables to make sure there’s something for everyone. Whether you can’t get enough of the Art Deco era or are a hardcore minimalist, there’s something for you in this list. Keep in mind the shape you want, as well. Some spaces benefit from having a tiny coffee table to balance the room out, while others require a larger rectangular table. The shape of a coffee table can change the look of your space instantly.

We know stylish furniture when we see it. Storage coffee tables can be quite the eyesore but are important functional pieces in your home. That’s why we endeavored to track down the best of both worlds, so you can find something that’ll work in your home.
