Woodstock man charged after cyclist hit, seriously injured in Oxford County

A Woodstock man has been arrested and charged after a crash sent a cyclist to hospital with life-threatening injuries on Thursday night in Oxford County.

On April 17 at 11 p.m., emergency crews were called to the crash on Blandford Street, in the Town of Innerkip, northeast of Woodstock, police said. When they arrived, Ontario Provincial Police learned the vehicle involved in the crash had fled to the scene. The cyclist was taken to local hospital.

On April 19, a 60-year-old man of Woodstock was arrested and charged with failing to stop at an accident resulting in bodily harm. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Woodstock court in June.

Anyone with information regarding this incident, who may have observed the crash, or who may have dashcam footage and/or video surveillance footage between the times of 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. in the area of Blandford Street, is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
