East Lancs Road traffic LIVE: Huge car fire shuts road as smoke seen for miles

The East Lancs Road is now reopen following the car fire.

Merseyside Police are appealing for information following the car fire.

Investigating officers are urging witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to get in touch quoting quoting log reference 019245.

Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to the blaze, which broke out on the eastbound side of the East Lancs Road, at around 6.50am this morning (August 12).

Dramatic pictures show the car on fire. Plumes of smoke can also be seen billowing from the scene.
