Tragedy in Van! Car crashes into truck loaded with briquettes: 2 dead
According to reports, the accident occurred late at night on Terzioğlu Street in the Hatuniye neighborhood of the İpekyolu district. A car driven by GA ran under a truck loaded with briquettes parked on the roadside. Upon notification, numerous ambulances, police, teams from the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), and the Tuşba and İpekyolu Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene. Crews and bystanders mobilized to rescue GA and BA, the driver and passenger, who were trapped in the car. After intensive work, GA was extricated and handed over to paramedics. The crews then moved to free BA, who was in the passenger seat. When the person couldn't be extricated, they attempted to lift the truck's trailer with a crane. The heavy load prevented the trailer from being lifted. Consequently, bystanders threw the briquettes from the trailer to the ground.
The car was then extricated from under the truck using a crane. Crews then extricated the victim and transferred him to paramedics. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the injured driver was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Despite all efforts at the hospital, the injured GA could not be saved and died. The car, now a pile of scrap, was removed from the scene by tow truck, and an investigation into the accident has been launched.
