Simultaneous operations in 12 provinces! A blow to arms and ammunition smugglers
Nineteen of the 78 suspects detained in the arms and ammunition smuggling operation conducted in 13 provinces, centered in Diyarbakır, were arrested.
The Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch conducted an operation targeting arms and ammunition smuggling. In this context, simultaneous operations were conducted at specified addresses in Diyarbakır, Adıyaman, Trabzon, Kahramanmaraş, İstanbul, Hatay, Şırnak, Bingöl, Şanlıurfa, İzmir, Mardin, Mersin, and Malatya. During the operation, 42 unlicensed pistols, 268 blank firing pistols, 10 rifles, 336 magazines, 6,007 cartridges, 172 barrels with grooves and sets, 183 gun magazines, 3 empty slides, 20 top covers, a grinder, a drill, a laser machine, a vice, a lathe, a ballistic vest, and 2 grams of narcotics were seized in two gun workshops. 78 suspects were taken into custody. 52 of the suspects were released after processing at the police station.
Of the 26 suspects referred to the courthouse, 19 were arrested by the judgeship to which they were brought, and 7 were released on probation.
