Bears plundered sunflower fields in Erzincan

Bears ravaged sunflower fields in the Çayırlı district of Erzincan province , causing crop losses. Farmers said they were severely affected by the bears.

Farmers in the village of Harmantepe, in the Çayırlı district, were shocked when they went to their sunflower fields to irrigate them. They found bear tracks and saw that their crops had been plundered.

The bears, who were apparently tearing off the tops of sunflowers and eating them, fled when they noticed people. Farmer Kemal Arduç , who noted that the bears were causing significant damage to his fields , said, "There are hundreds of acres of sunflower fields planted in the Çayırlı region. But this year, we are facing a major problem. All of our fields are being raided by bears. Bears are causing significant damage to the sunflower fields. We don't know how to deal with the bears. We are waiting for support from the authorities ."
