Zeynep Sönmez became the first Turkish female tennis player to advance to the second round at Wimbledon

In the women's singles at the third Grand Slam tournament of the season, Wimbledon , Zeynep Sönmez defeated Romanian Jaqueline Cristian and became the first Turkish female tennis player to advance to the second round in the history of the organization.
In the match held in the morning session of the second day of the tournament held in London, the capital of England, world number 88 Sönmez and world number 55 Cristian faced each other.
Competing in the main draw for the first time at Wimbledon, the national tennis player beat Cristian 2-0 with sets of 7-6, 6-3, and made history as the first Turkish female tennis player to advance to the second round at Wimbledon.
