Tevfik Yamantürk, who attacked Beşiktaş 's previous president Hasan Arat while he was speaking on the podium at the board meeting three months ago, resigned from his position as the Chairman of the BJK Board of Directors, which he had held for eight years.
Yamantürk, announcing his resignation in a written statement on his social media account, said, "I previously announced to the public that I would not be running for President of the Board of Directors again, with the election of the Board of Directors one and a half years away. I offer my sincerest wishes of success to the new president and board of directors of this glorious and honorable position, in the best interests of Beşiktaş and to maintain my impartiality."
WHAT HAPPENED?Beşiktaş's previous president, Hasan Arat, was physically attacked on the podium while speaking at the club's executive board meeting held on April 12.
The fight on the podium escalated after Council Board Chairman Tevfik Yamantürk punched Arat, and the meeting was adjourned after the situation calmed down.
