The 10th International Edirne Marathon was run

The 10th International Edirne Marathon was held under the theme "Victory" to commemorate Victory Day, August 30th. Organized by the Balkan Countries Friendship Group Youth and Sports Club Association, the marathon featured 800 athletes.

Athletes from the Balkan countries also participated in the marathon. Before the event, held in Selimiye Square under the "Every step a sapling" campaign, the athletes warmed up by dancing to music. Following a moment of silence and the singing of the Turkish National Anthem, accompanied by the Edirne Municipal Band, the marathon was started at 7:00 a.m. by Ahmet Karadağ, President of the Turkish Athletics Federation.

In the marathon, which featured 21-kilometer and 10-kilometer courses, athletes crossed the Tunca and Meriç bridges, the Karaağaç neighborhood, and the Pazarkule border crossing, according to their categories, before reaching the finish line. Passing soldiers on guard duty in the buffer zone of the border crossing, the athletes gave a military salute and continued their run. Some athletes, wearing jerseys printed with a portrait of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, reached the finish line carrying a Turkish flag.

Athlete Ahmet Sevilmiş also showed support for Palestine by running in the marathon wearing a T-shirt that read, "The death of Gaza is the death of humanity, a free Palestine." All participating athletes were presented with saplings.

Senem Pusat won the women's 21-kilometer race in 1:52:30, while Üzeyir Söylemez won the men's race in 1:13:05. Deniz Koyuncu won the women's 10-kilometer race in 43:08, and Soykan Baykal won the men's race in 34:59.
