Italians were surprised! 'Istanbul is overtaking Italy'

Last week, German newspaper Bild asked, "Where did Galatasaray find €75 million for Osimhen?" Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport also ran the headline, "Turkey launches transfer market offensive. Istanbul overtakes Italy," questioning the revenue sources Turkish clubs use to make transfers.

The Italian newspaper, which argues that the secret lies in Türkiye's low tax rates and the government's support for clubs in paying their debts, included the following statements in its report:

Turkey, which will co-host the 2032 European Championship with Italy, has decided to get serious. Or rather, to continue investing in football. Marco Asensio from PSG... Or Tammy Abraham from Roma to Beşiktaş, or Eldor Shomurodov from Başakşehir... Then there's Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich... Colombian striker Jhon Duran, who came on loan from Al Nassr for free (with only his salary paid). Thanks to sponsors and generous club presidents, these Süper Lig acquisitions are happening this transfer window.
