Bengü's striking 'octopus ladies' statement

Taking the stage at a venue in Antalya, Bengü answered questions from the press. The singer made some noteworthy statements about her private life.
According to Habertürk, Bengü, who ended her seven-year marriage to Selim Selimoğlu in 2024, said of the separation, "We married with great love and were blessed with two beautiful children. However, sometimes a marriage can be unsustainable due to mutual expectations and differences of opinion. Both parties worked hard, but over time, we began to suffer. The separation was a mutual decision. It's not a marriage that ended badly." The singer, who has two children, Selim and Zeynep, also denied the allegations of infidelity that arose during her separation from her ex-husband, saying, "There's absolutely no such thing. We didn't even raise our voices when we split. The marriage might not work out, but now we have two beautiful children, and we will be their parents for life. My ex-wife, thankfully, is doing the best she can. We have no problems, and we're both happy. Of course, we didn't want it to end, but it's been a good thing."
"OCTOPUS WOMEN ARE WRAPPING UP THE MEN"
Bengü previously attracted attention with a social media post featuring the phrase "those who make things happen." The singer responded, "I'm a huge 'Kızılcık Şerbeti' fan. A woman's approach to a married man caught my attention. I haven't experienced anything like this, and my post wasn't a reference. But there are some women... These 'octopus ladies' suddenly appear very friendly and embrace men, saying 'I'm your best friend,' and that was a reference to them. Otherwise, I haven't experienced it."
Bengü also said that the term "octopus ladies" she mentioned was not her best friend, and added, "But I may have kept octopus ladies around me at the time, which I may not have fully understood."
The singer, who said that he got away without ever having to deal with octopus ladies, said, "Women will understand me, they really exist. How can you be besties with my wife?"
"A MARRIED MAN CANNOT HAVE A BFF"
Arguing that a married man and a woman cannot be friends, Bengü said, "No one can be best friends with my husband. My ex-wife didn't have a best friend either. A married man cannot have a best friend."
