Amputee National Team aims for 2026 World Championship

Amputee National Team Coach İsmail Temiz said, "We want to accelerate our work for the 2026 World Championship from the beginning of the year and become champions there as well."

Participating in the "Football For All" program held at the UEFA campus in Nyon, Switzerland, Temiz told AA that they took part in a project organized in partnership with UEFA to ensure the participation of disabled individuals in life.

Temiz, who stated that the program aims to increase the quality of life of the athletes and to direct them to sports , said, "As a former amputee football player, we are working to share experiences, provide amputee football training and guide them. Today, we want to give our last seminar and hopefully watch Trabzonspor's match and return to our country with the cup."

Sharing the information that the seminar continued for 4 days, Temiz stated that athletes from Ukraine, Poland and Greece took part in the event.

İsmail Temiz stated that they shared their experiences at the seminar and said, "We want to support the development of amputee football by sharing both field experiences and the experiences we have had in the past."

Temiz invited the fans to the Nations A League matches to be held in Trabzon in September and said: "This year, God willing, we will have a special tournament in Poland. We will have a four-way tournament with Poland, Japan, Morocco and Turkey. After that, we will have a double camp in Azerbaijan. After that, the Nations A League will be played in Trabzon. Poland, Turkey, England and Spain will compete here. Our Trabzon has always been a sports city, a city that lives and thrives on sports. They will fill the stands together and support the Turkish national team."

Emphasizing that they are aiming for the cup in the World Championship to be held in Costa Rica in 2026, Temiz concluded his words as follows: "The essence of success is continuity and sustainability. Our country became world champion for the first time in 2007. We have been world champions 4 times in a row and second in the world once. At the European level, we have been second in Europe once and three European championships. As we said, sustainability is important. The 2026 World Championship will be in Costa Rica. We are working towards that. Hopefully, we will accelerate our work for the 2026 World Championship from the beginning of the year and want to be champions there as well."
