The world's first motorized shoe is out! It runs for you.
Nike has unveiled a groundbreaking new product in wearable technology. The company has unveiled the world's first motorized athletic shoe system, dubbed "Project Amplify." The technology is aimed at daily runners who want to cover long distances with less effort, rather than professional athletes.
IT WILL WORK LIKE A SECOND CALF MUSCLENike describes the new system as a "second calf muscle." Project Amplify supports the natural movement of the calf and ankle muscles during running and walking, allowing for faster and easier strides. Optimized for users running at approximately 150-160 meters per minute, the shoe aims to increase performance while reducing fatigue.
Nike partnered with robotics company Dephy for development. The system was tested on more than 400 athletes and analyzed a total of 2.4 million steps.
The lightweight motor, drive belt, and rechargeable cuff battery integrated into the shoe work in conjunction with movement algorithms developed by the Nike Sport Research Lab.
