The poverty line has exceeded 85 thousand lira!

The data calculated by TÜRK-İŞ for a family of four living in Ankara to be able to eat healthily, balanced and sufficiently was announced. The poverty line, which is the total amount of food expenses and other monthly expenses required for clothing, housing (rent, electricity, water, fuel), transportation, education, health and similar needs, was increased to 85,066 lira and the hunger line was increased to 26,115 lira.
According to the Confederation's study, food prices increased by 4.08 percent monthly and 37.60 percent annually in the same month.
The following statements were included in Türk-İş's statement:
"According to the results of this research conducted regularly every month by the TÜRK-İŞ Confederation in order to reveal the living conditions of employees and to determine the impact of price changes in basic necessities on family budgets;
The monthly food expenditure (hunger threshold) required for a family of four living in Ankara to have a healthy, balanced and sufficient diet is 26,115.18 TL,
The total amount of food expenses and other monthly expenses required for clothing, housing (rent, electricity, water, fuel), transportation, education, health and similar needs (poverty line) is 85,065.75 TL.
The 'cost of living' for a single employee increased to 33,586.82 TL per month.
According to TÜRK-İŞ data, the change in “kitchen inflation” data as of June 2025 is as follows:
The increase in the minimum expenditure that a family of four living in Ankara must make "for food" was 4.08 percent compared to the previous month.
The twelve-month change rate was 37.60 percent.
The annual average increase was 44.58 percent.
The change rate in the first six months of the year was 23.87 percent."
