Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 comes with a lighter and larger screen

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 7, its most ambitious model in thefoldable phone race. This new model, which we had the chance to test last week, offers both design and hardware improvements over its predecessor, the Fold 6. This model features a thinner and lighter chassis, a larger and brighter display, improved hinges, and a camera system on par with the Galaxy S series.
While the new model may appear similar to the Fold 6 at first glance, nearly every detail of the Fold 7 has been overhauled. One of the biggest differences is the display. The main AMOLED 2X display is now 11 percent larger, measuring a full 8 inches. It has a 120Hz refresh rate and a 2,184 x 1,968 resolution, with brightness reaching up to 2,600 nits. The external display has also grown to 6.5 inches and a more usable 21:9 aspect ratio. Both displays are now protected by Corning's next-generation Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 technology.
Samsung has hidden the Fold 7's fold marks as much as possible with its new Armor FlexHinge hinge structure. The company states that this new hinge is also much more durable because it distributes the stress load evenly thanks to the "multi-rail structure" used in its internal structure.

Despite all these screen and hinge improvements, the device is now thinner and lighter. At 215 grams , the Fold 7 is 24 grams lighter than the Fold 6. For comparison, it's even lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It's 8.9 mm thick when folded and 4.2 mm when unfolded, representing a 27% reduction compared to the previous model.
At the heart of the Fold 7 is Qualcomm's latest chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite for the Galaxy. This processor is 38% more powerful than the previous generation, delivering 26% higher GPU performance and a 40% upgrade to the artificial intelligence unit (NPU). The device also features 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, and a 4,400mAh dual-cell battery. The battery can be charged to 50% in just 30 minutes using a wired cable, and Qi wireless charging is also supported.

The device ships with One UI 8 , based on Android 16 , and AI features are firmly at the core of this version. Gemini Live, Circle to Search, and Galaxy AI features for large screens make the Fold 7 a versatile productivity tool.
BETTER CAMERA
One of the Fold 6's biggest criticisms, its camera performance, has finally been addressed. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 now features the same 200MP wide-angle camera as the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The ultra-wide (12MP) and telephoto (10MP) lenses remain unchanged. On the front side, there are also dual 10MP selfie cameras on both the cover and the main inner display. But at least it now offers a main camera system befitting a device in this price range. The device will be released on July 25th.
