Is it possible to have a glass-like screen? The world's first transparent monitor has been produced.

The most striking feature of this monitor is its adjustable transparency. The company states that the monitor uses a system similar to the HUD technology used in aircraft. However, unlike fully transparent OLED or LCD panels, the Phantom doesn't directly project an image onto the screen. Instead, a panel hidden in the base projects the image upward onto a specially coated curved glass surface. This method allows the glass to remain transparent, while the image appears to float in the air.
This hybrid system, while not "pixel-by-pixel transparent," offers a similar experience through reflection and optical illusion. While this method overcomes the low brightness issues inherent in transparent OLED displays, it can introduce some limitations in contrast and viewing angles.
The developer claims the transparent monitor will reduce eye strain. Users can focus on background objects without looking away from the screen, which is said to reduce eye strain. However, it's not yet known whether this will actually make a difference, and testing will likely determine this once the product is released.
Transparent display devices are becoming more common
From a technical perspective, the Phantom looks quite interesting: it can reach 4K resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio, 5,000 nits of brightness, and offers Ultra HDR support. It also covers 100% of the sRGB color space and includes USB-C and HDMI. Only 10 Founders Edition models will be produced for now, and these early versions will ship to users in the fourth quarter of 2025. The feedback from these early users will be decisive in shaping the final version of the product.
The monitor's true significance lies in its role as one of the first steps in the widespread adoption of this technology. We can predict that both television and monitor display technologies will eventually transition to the era of transparent displays. Of course, the proliferation of similar models is crucial for this transition.
