Baykar, one of the leading companies in the Turkish defense industry, has officially acquired Piaggio Aerospace, one of Italy's well-established aviation companies. According to the statement made by the Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, all assets of Piaggio Aero Industries and Piaggio Aviation, which are subject to extraordinary management, were transferred to Baykar.
The statement emphasized that this acquisition is not just a company transfer, but also part of a broader industrial cooperation between Turkey and Italy. It was stated that Baykar presented a comprehensive and forward-looking industrial plan for Piaggio Aerospace and will make the necessary strategic investments to ensure the sustainability of the company and support its growth.
In this context, the ministry also announced that a joint venture will be established between Baykar and the Italian defense industry company Leonardo to develop unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Italian Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, evaluated the transfer process as a “strategic move” and stated that this cooperation will strengthen the technological and industrial ties between the two countries.
