Türkiye is involved in oil and gas in Africa

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar held an important meeting with Senegalese Energy, Petroleum, and Mines Minister Birame Souleye Diop. Bayraktar shared information about the meeting with Diop on his X account as part of Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko's visit to Turkey .
Bayraktar stated that they discussed ongoing efforts under the memorandum of understanding signed last year on energy and hydrocarbons. Emphasizing the two countries' shared goals in the energy field, Bayraktar emphasized that they had reached a consensus on translating cooperation into concrete steps in oil and natural gas exploration and production, as well as mining.
Bayraktar said in his post, “We have reached a consensus on concretizing our cooperation in the field of energy, especially in the fields of oil and natural gas exploration and production, as well as mining, in line with the common goals of the two countries.”
Energy cooperation between Turkey and Senegal is considered a strategic step that will increase Türkiye's influence on the African continent. This meeting demonstrates that the two countries will collaborate more closely in the exploration, use, and development of energy resources.
With this move, Türkiye aims to further increase its effectiveness in the energy sector in Africa, while strengthening economic relations within the framework of projects carried out with Senegal.
