Trump's statement on the assassination attempt

Trump gave an interview to Lara Trump, the wife of his son Eric Trump, who hosts a Fox News program, at the White House on the anniversary of the assassination attempt.
Regarding the shooting he experienced during his campaign rally last year, Trump said, "It was an unforgettable moment, I didn't know exactly what happened and I was shot," adding that he was repeatedly briefed by the FBI and Secret Service after the incident and that he was pleased with that.
"They should have put someone in the building (where the attacker was located). That was a mistake. They should have contacted the local police and been in contact. So, mistakes were made that shouldn't have happened," Trump said.
Still, Trump stated that he has great confidence in law enforcement, noting that being president is a much more dangerous profession than being a race car driver or rodeo rider.
"THEY GOT TOO MUCH WARNING"
When asked about the floods that occurred in Texas on July 4th, which killed 129 people and left 150 missing, Trump claimed that warning systems went off too early several times, saying, "It's a pretty dangerous area. Maybe a bell should have rung, something should have gone off. They had plenty of warning, but it was late at night."
Stating that he was saddened by the flood disaster more than anyone else as the president of the country, Trump said, "Because you are the head of a country and you don't want anything bad to happen. But unfortunately, life doesn't go that way."
"(BIDEN) WAS THE WORST PRESIDENT IN OUR COUNTRY'S HISTORY"
Trump also harshly criticized former President Joe Biden during his nearly 30-minute interview, saying, "He was the worst president in the history of our country, no one has ever done more damage to our country, and now we're fixing it."
Touching on other current issues such as his policies against irregular immigrants, the tax cut law and customs duties, Trump said that he worked with some "stupid" names such as former National Security Advisor John Bolton, whom he appointed to his cabinet upon recommendation during his first presidency, but that his cabinet now consists of great people who are compatible with each other.
At the end of the interview, when asked, "How would you like to be remembered?", Trump replied, "As someone who was good, but also as someone who saved our country. I truly believed our country was headed for collapse, on the brink. I would really like to be remembered as the man who saved our country."
-ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT ON TRUMP
On July 13, 2024, Trump was attacked with a gun while addressing his supporters at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. One rally attendee was killed and two people were injured. The US Secret Service announced that the attacker was neutralized.
The FBI described the attack as an assassination attempt and, after investigations, announced that the person who attempted the attack and was killed at the scene was 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
Following the attempt, the Secret Service faced widespread criticism for "failure and poor communication."
