The number of 'Neighborhood Gardens' is increasing in Bağcılar

The following statements were made in the information provided by Bağcılar Municipality regarding the project:
Bağcılar, centrally located in Istanbul, boasts 177 parks. The Bağcılar Municipality is also implementing new projects to equip the district with more green spaces. One of these is the "Neighborhood Gardens" project, which recently launched and continues to spread throughout the district. This project, implemented by Bağcılar Mayor Yasin Yıldız after taking office, aims to revitalize passive green spaces.
To this end, 45 locations in the district suitable for neighborhood gardens have been identified based on both citizen requests and municipal research. Following the development of plans and projects for these locations, infrastructure and superstructure work begins. These areas are first cleared and leveled with vehicles to make them usable. Then, the landscaping process is completed by laying grass and planting trees, lawns, and flowers. Finally, the Neighborhood Garden is prepared with seating areas consisting of benches, tables, and pergolas. As a result of these efforts, 14 Neighborhood Gardens have been opened to the public so far.
The second greening project in the district is the Nation's Gardens. Currently, the Nation's Garden is located in Bağcılar, opened in 2022 by Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. The Nation's Garden, established on an area of 60,000 square meters, features 2,030 trees of different species, walking paths, cafeteria areas, sports fields, social facilities, a basketball court, a parking lot, and a library.
The number of Nation's Gardens, which offer a respite for citizens seeking an escape from the city's crowds, is being increased. As part of this initiative, Milet Gardens will be built in the Göztepe neighborhood, Fevzi Çakmak neighborhood, İnönü neighborhood, and 15 Temmuz neighborhood. This will bring the total number of Nation's Gardens in the district to five. The Nation's Garden planned for the Fevzi Çakmak neighborhood covers 21,000 square meters. The garden, which houses social facilities, recreation, and sports areas, will also feature a shelter below, in accordance with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change regulations.
Göztepe Nation's Garden, which will be built on an area of 13,000 square meters, will include a children's playground, multipurpose sports field, running track, path park, and recreational areas. The Nation's Garden in the İnönü neighborhood will be built on 33,000 square meters. Additionally, a 16,341,000-square-meter area in the 15 Temmuz neighborhood has been set aside for the Nation's Garden. This area will include a social facility, two basketball courts, one football field, and recreational and resting areas.
Bağcılar Mayor Yasin Yıldız, stating that they are prioritizing efforts to improve the quality of life for citizens, said, “Istanbul is one of the world's metropolises. As the Bağcılar Municipality, we are creating spaces where our citizens living in Bağcılar, one of Istanbul's central districts, can socialize and enjoy time with loved ones. These spaces have become social interaction hubs, providing a break from the city's hectic pace. To this end, we are increasing both the number of our Neighborhood Gardens and our Public Gardens. Hopefully, we will soon have 45 Neighborhood Gardens and 5 Public Gardens. This will also beautify the district's landscape. Furthermore, we have once again recognized the importance of gathering places during earthquakes. Therefore, these areas will serve as new meeting centers in addition to our existing gathering areas that welcome our citizens during disasters.”
