'WE AIM TO PLANT 12 MILLION SEEDLINGS ANNUALLY'Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Yumaklı stated that they came together with the Turkish Red Crescent to start a good campaign and said, "We are making significant efforts with the Turkish Red Crescent to be with our citizens in difficult times, especially during disasters. We experienced one of the most important examples of this unity during the February 6 earthquakes. Under the coordination of AFAD, we carried out important works with the Turkish Red Crescent, especially in terms of food supply. Thanks to these collaborations, I would like you to know that as a ministry, we are beyond being an institution that only determines and supervises policies. We have a structure that reaches every segment of society, creates awareness and provides concrete benefits. With its experience of 1.5 centuries, the Turkish Red Crescent is the helping hand of our country for both our heartland and oppressed geographies. I would like to remind everyone that important duties fall on everyone to further strengthen this strong institution of ours. In order for the Red Crescent to help more people in times of need, its blood depots must also be full. In this context, we are implementing an important campaign for the Red Crescent's blood depots to be filled and for our forest areas to increase. With the Red Crescent, we are implementing an important campaign for the Red Crescent's blood depots to be filled and for our forest areas to increase. "We are signing an important cooperation protocol today so that Blood May Be Life for the Forest. With this protocol, we aim to plant 12 million saplings annually. This means reaching 4 million volunteer blood donors every year. We will plant saplings for the Red Crescent's volunteer blood donors by our General Directorate of Forestry. We will issue a certificate of appreciation for the planted saplings and share the locations of the planted saplings with our blood donors in this way," he said.

Red Crescent General President Fatma Meriç Yılmaz said, "The investment that needs to be made in the environment is also an investment in our future and an issue that allows us all to breathe. Therefore, when we talked with our Minister, we talked about how what we will do will not be limited to our 'Blood for the Patient, Blood for the Forest' project, and that we will continue to work with both our employees and volunteers in line with the goals that our ministry will show for a healthier environment. We say, 'Blood is not an urgent need, it is a constant need.' We want to tell our donors this; when you donate blood to a patient, you are not only touching the lives of 3 people, you will be making an investment in the future by mediating the planting of 3 saplings. Within the scope of this project, we want to accompany the planting of saplings in the field with our volunteers and we want to position this as a social movement."
