Jon Jones retires, Tom Aspinall holds the belt

Following the UFC Fight Night event held in Baku, Azerbaijan, UFC President Dana White announced the retirement of American Jon Jones, who is considered the most talented name in MMA (mixed martial arts) history. After announcing Jon Jones, White also stated that the new heavyweight champion is Tom Aspinall. Dana White said, “Jon Jones called us and said he was retiring. He is now officially retired. Tom Aspinall is the UFC heavyweight champion.”
Asked if Jon Jones had any regrets about the decision he was given, White said: "If you look at what he's accomplished in this sport, no."
Tom Aspinall, 32, from England, was the interim heavyweight champion before Dana White's announcement. He is now the undisputed champion after three straight victories over Marcin Tybura, Sergei Pavlovich and Curtis Blaydes.
Jon Jones has a 28-1 record in the UFC, with his only defeat coming in 2009 against Matt Hamill due to a prohibited kick.
