CHP's Özgür Çelik: The case is an effort by the AKP to maintain its power

Republican People's Party ( CHP ) Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik made evaluations regarding the congress case.
Çelik, who stated that a case that should have been rejected was postponed to September 8, underlined that the CHP is the first party of Türkiye in the elections to March 31, 2024, and expressed the view that “The government has fallen to the second party position. For this reason, our party is under attack.”
Çelik, who said that the institutional identity of the CHP was under attack, said, “We know the purpose of the attacks on the CHP. What is happening is an effort by the minority government to maintain its power.”
Noting that the AKP wants a Türkiye without opposition, Çelik made the following statements:
“No matter what position he/she has held in the party today or in the past, we will stand together against these attacks. Together, we will fight for Türkiye’s democracy. We stand by the will of the CHP’s 38th Ordinary Congress and 21st Extraordinary Congress. We will continue to defend the CHP.”
"WE WILL NOT FALL FOR THIS GAME"CHP's Çelik also responded to the claims that "100 apartments were distributed to delegates in Istanbul through KİPTAŞ" with the following words:
“A process is being carried out based on lies and slander. Let’s go to Istanbul, let’s show them the door of the office, let’s knock on it and ask, ‘Were you given an office at the convention?’ If one person says yes, I will resign from my party. I came to Ankara for the convention case. The prosecutor told me, ‘When the Bursa Provincial Chairman entered the meeting room with you at a hotel in Ankara during the convention, his face was sullen, but when he left, his face was smiling.’ That’s why I left Istanbul, came to Ankara and gave my statement. This issue is actually that funny. There is a politicized judiciary in Türkiye. They want Türkiye’s real problems not to be discussed. Turkey is in the midst of an economic collapse. With the politicized judiciary, they are trying to confine the CHP to the domestic agenda instead of Türkiye’s real agenda. We will not fall for this game.”
