Following its week-long youth camp in Zeytinli , Balıkesir , SOL Genç will hold a rally with young people from across the country on Thursday, September 4th at 7:00 PM in Akçay Cumhuriyet Square in Edremit. The rally, which will be held with the slogan "For Nature, Life, and the Country, the Word is Ours, the Future is Ours," will call for a struggle against the one-man regime and the destruction it has wrought. The rally will be followed by the concert "Cloudlessness Longing."

Young people gathered at the Youth Summer Camp, held in Zeytinli for a week, and spoke to BirGün before the rally. Yiğit Aydın, from SOL Genç Istanbul, said, “We came together at the camp with young people who are struggling across the country and breaking through the barricades. Our goal is to develop a common policy with young people from different provinces of the country and to organize SOL Genç's new era of politics.”

Aydın said, “We also felt it necessary to make a plan that addresses local issues and planned to organize a rally addressing the problems of the people and youth of Balıkesir. At the rally, we will be joined by students from our camp who are homeless, unemployed, and forced to work. We will meet with all our friends in Akçay at 6:00 a.m. and march with our strongest procession, along with the citizens, to Akçay Republic Square.”

THE FUTURE IS OURS

Ahmet Bozay, from SOL Genç Balıkesir, said, “Corruption, looting, plundering, profiteering, destruction of nature, femicide, workplace crimes. This is the life imposed on the people by the system. The struggle that the youth have raised since March 19th has once again demonstrated that this very way of life can be shaken to its core. Today, we will once again declare our will, which defies the bounds of the system, at our rally in the foothills of Mount Ida.”

“We will follow in the footsteps of the villagers who resisted in the Kaz Mountains against the parliament, elections, and dirty negotiations that have cornered politics,” Bozay said, adding, “We are united with our hope and anger.”

Dicle Duru Elmacı of SOL Genç İzmir said, “We stand together against the fake diploma scandals that have filled students with despair and anger in recent days, the exposure of harassment by women in various sectors based on the power of sisterhood, the economic collapse we are experiencing, and dozens more; against the problems that are driving young people to futurelessness and despair. We will continue to keep our anger alive with the practices we learned during the March 19th process.”

WE HAVE A PROMISE

Finally, Evrim Öztürk of SOL Genç Ankara stated the following in her statement: “We are organizing this rally to reunite the young people who organized a boycott at their own schools during the March 19th process, who broke down the barricades, and who came together for a better, more equal life in their schools and countries, and to reassert this same will in the coming period. Our goal is to take the struggle for a more equal, freer future for young people one step further. We have a say in everything, from the ecological struggle to the youth struggle to the women's struggle. Therefore, it has become necessary for us to have our say in these areas as well. The rally's main message is this: 'For nature, our country, and life; our say, the future is ours.'”
