'We can protect nerves with robotic surgery'

Medipol Acıbadem Regional Hospital Urology Specialist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cevper Ersöz stated that robotic surgery, which restores surgeons' hands to millimeter precision, eliminates tremors thanks to robotic arms and 3D imaging technology, has ushered in a new era in prostate cancer surgery. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cevper Ersöz stated, "Thanks to this advanced technology, cancerous tissue is completely removed from the body, while vital functions such as urinary and sexual functions can be meticulously preserved. This dual advantage offered by robotic surgery significantly increases the success rate of treatment."
ADVANTAGES OF ROBOTIC SURGERYAssoc. Prof. Dr. Ersöz said, "What we call a robot is not a self-operating machine; we perform the surgery ourselves. We perform the surgery using very precise and meticulous arms from a special console. These arms are smaller, more precise, and never shake. By seeing the image in 3D and very clearly, we can completely remove the tumor, as if looking through a magnifying glass, while preserving the nerves that control continence and sexual function."
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ersöz stated that robotic surgery offers significant advantages, such as reducing bleeding, shortening hospital stays, and allowing patients to return to their daily lives more quickly. He continued, "Of course, every patient's situation is different. The stage of the cancer, general health status, and the patient's expectations are taken into consideration when deciding on surgery. If you are suitable, robotic surgery is one of the most advanced and comfortable surgical treatments available today."
