Phenomenon Murat Övüç faces prison shock! The video he shot with a shawl got him in trouble

An investigation into social media phenomenon Murat Övüç due to the statements he made in a video post has been concluded. The indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that Övüç's words were of a nature that could lead one segment of society to hatred and hostility towards another.
The indictment noted that the statements in question included discrimination and were hate speech, and that the post had a wide repercussion on social media platforms and was commented on and reshared by many accounts and groups.
The indictment also included the statement of the suspect Murat Övüç. Övüç claimed that he shot the video on the plane, covered his head with a shawl and said, "Whatever I do, girl, it looks good on you. Look, go ahead", that these words were only meant as a joke and that there was no intention of humiliation or discrimination. Övüç, who stated that he came from a religious family, did not accept the accusation.
UP TO 4 YEARS IN PRISON IS REQUESTEDThe prosecutor's office requested that Murat Övüç be sentenced to 1 year and 6 months to 4 years and 6 months in prison for "openly inciting the public to hatred and hostility." The suspect's trial will begin in the coming days at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance.
