Work has begun on a city hospital in Van.

In the city, where significant health investments have recently been planned, work has begun on the construction of the "Van City Hospital".
A new hospital building with 800 beds was designed on an area of 240,000 square meters next to the Van Training and Research Hospital campus in Edremit.
Excavation work has begun on the building, which includes 210 additional polyclinics, a 168-bed intensive care unit, and 40 operating rooms.
The building, which is planned to be completed within 3 years, is planned to be combined with the existing hospital building with 1,500 beds and gain city hospital status.
The city hospital, with a total indoor area of 410,000 square meters and a bed capacity of 2,300, aims to provide health services to patients from the city as well as surrounding provinces, transforming Van into a "health hub."
"We will increase our bed count to 2,300"Provincial Health Director Muhammed Tosun stated that excavation work has begun at the Van City Hospital campus.
Tosun stated that they are striving to facilitate citizens' access to healthcare and to improve the quality of this service, and noted the following:
The building to be constructed is planned as an additional 800-bed hospital on a 240,000-square-meter site behind the Van Training and Research Hospital. Upon completion, we will continue to provide services by increasing our current bed count from 1,500 to 2,300. Upon completion of the project, the Van City Hospital campus will cover approximately 410,000 square meters of indoor space. It will include 210 additional outpatient clinics, 168 intensive care units, 40 operating rooms, five angiography units, and an oncology center equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.
Tosun emphasized the city's importance in terms of healthcare investments, saying, "After the hospital project is completed, we will establish a physical therapy and palliative care center in a suitable area and provide higher-quality treatment services to our elderly and other patients. We have a 50-bed high-security forensic psychiatric hospital on campus. Furthermore, we will no longer send our forensic psychiatric patients in prisons outside the province; we will also accept these patients from neighboring provinces into Van."
"We will provide quality service in terms of health tourism"Tosun stated that they will provide even higher quality services in the field of health, and pointed out that the buildings will be combined and will serve in the concept of a city hospital.
Tosun emphasized that a hospital with all departments and branches will be brought to the city, saying, "Our hospital is equipped with technological equipment, and these investments will increase both the number of technological equipment and devices. Consequently, appointment times will be shorter, and we will be able to provide more specialized services by purchasing the latest devices. Once the city hospital is completed, we will provide high-quality health tourism services to patients from many countries, especially Iran and Iraq , through our public, private, and university hospitals."
Tosun noted that they are also working to expand hospitals in the districts and increase their bed capacity, and continued:
The foundation for a 75-bed hospital in Başkale has been laid, and work is ongoing. We will hold the tender for the 50-unit Oral and Dental Health Center in Edremit by the end of this year. We will build an additional building for the oral and dental health center on a 2,000-square-meter site in Özalp. This year, we will begin construction on a 150-bed annex in Erciş, a 150-bed hospital in Muradiye, and a 150-bed hospital in İpekyolu Bostaniçi. We also have a 100-bed Tuşba Hospital project under development. We aim to complete the project this year and plan to hold the tender process next year.
