The deadline for fire protection measures for existing buildings has been extended

The amendment to the "Regulation on Amendments to the Regulation on the Protection of Buildings from Fire" was announced with an announcement published in the Official Gazette. With the regulation amendment decision signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Temporary Article 4 was added to the regulation.
Temporary Article 3 was regulated as follows: "The measures to be taken for existing buildings specified in the fifth paragraph of Article 138 of this Regulation shall be implemented by the building owner and manager and institution managers until 31/12/2023. The implementation of these measures shall be inspected by the authorities authorized to issue licenses. If the manufacturing or installation required by the measures to be taken has started within this period, a construction period not exceeding 1 year may be granted by the relevant administration, depending on the construction period."
The added Temporary Article 4 includes the following statements: "The deficiencies requiring a process for the supply of materials in existing buildings within the scope of this Regulation shall be fulfilled by the building owner and manager and the institution managers until 31/12/2025. At the end of this period, the authorities authorized to issue licenses shall inspect whether the deficiencies have been remedied."
With the published amendment, the period for measures to be taken to protect existing buildings from fire has been extended until December 31, 2025 due to deficiencies that require a process such as material supply. Thus, building owners and managers have been given additional time to resolve these deficiencies.
