More than 8 million people die every year in the world due to smoking.

Chest Diseases Specialist Dr. Yasemin Bodur said that they will be there for citizens with the Smoking Cessation Clinic they opened at Diyarbakır Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital.
Dr. Bodur stated that more than 8 million people worldwide and more than 100,000 in Türkiye lose their lives each year due to diseases caused by tobacco products, and emphasized that smoking increases the risk of developing respiratory diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and many cancers.
Bodur explained that they plan personalized treatment, saying, "We combine medication and behavioral therapy. Medications don't cause addiction because we only give them temporarily during the treatment phase. Our citizens shouldn't be afraid to decide to quit smoking. We stand by them in every way."
Veysel Çelik, one of the citizens, stated that he was here to end smoking in his mind. Noting that it had a significant impact on his daily life, Çelik said, "I consulted my doctor. I received positive results. I believe I will be able to quit psychologically. If not, I will continue with medication. My doctor supported me in this. I was experiencing shortness of breath in particular. I was even having difficulty eating. I was smoking an average of one pack. It's also affecting my finances. I will definitely quit and I recommend everyone to do so."
