Ministry of Health to measure citizens' body mass index

Minister Kemal Memişoğlu, in his statement on his social media account, stated that they have implemented a new application with the aim of reaching 10 million people for the health of citizens.
Memişoğlu, who reported that with the program launched simultaneously in 81 provinces, health personnel will measure height, weight and body mass index in squares, public areas and activity points where citizens are crowded, emphasized that overweight people will be identified and directed to Healthy Life Centers and Family Health Centers, and thus, people will be provided with nutrition consultancy and follow-up services by dietitians.

"The process will be carried out in cooperation with our Provincial Health Directorates, relevant public institutions, the Red Crescent, the Green Crescent and various non-governmental organizations. Our goal is to reach 10 million citizens between May 10 and July 10, 2025. To raise awareness about the harms of being overweight and to spread the culture of healthy living. We will continue to work towards the goal of 'a society that protects its health without getting sick' with our training programs aimed at increasing the level of health literacy and our field applications that will encourage healthy living habits."
