These changes can have small but significant effects on daily life, such as difficulty remembering information, misplacing things, or forgetting to pay a bill,” he said.
FORGETTENESS CAN ALSO BE SEEN IN YOUNG PEOPLENoting that forgetfulness is not only specific to older ages, Specialist Dr. Çakmak stated that factors such as stress, depression, vitamin deficiencies, heavy diets, thyroid diseases or long-term use of certain medications can also be effective in young individuals. “Therefore, not only elderly individuals but also young people need to be conscious about this issue,” he said.

Habits such as acquiring new hobbies, creating to-do lists, and keeping important items in the same place can reduce forgetfulness. In addition, maintaining social relationships and spending quality time with family and friends also supports brain health.”
EXERCISE AND NUTRITION ARE ALSO EFFECTIVENoting that regular exercise strengthens memory by increasing oxygen flow to the brain, Specialist Dr. Çakmak said, “Activities such as walking, swimming and yoga have a positive effect on memory. However, sports that require excessive physical effort should be avoided.”
Çakmak, who also touched on the effects of nutrition on brain functions, said, “Consumption of foods containing vitamin B, Omega-3 and quality carbohydrates is important. In addition, quality sleep patterns and mental exercises such as solving puzzles should be included in the daily routine.”
