Carrots are next in the food scandal: Sent back from Europe, spreading poison

Following the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's announcement of businesses and brands that produce in violation of legislation through the "Trusted Food System," new warnings regarding products originating in Turkey continue to come from Europe.
It poses a serious risk to human health. The RASFF report noted that carrots shipped from Türkiye to Romania "exceeded the maximum permitted limit for linuron." The report stated that this situation posed a "potentially serious risk to consumer health." Therefore, the decision was taken to recall and destroy the products before they were released to the market.
WHAT IS LINURON AND WHY IS IT DANGEROUS?Linuron is a pesticide used to control weeds, inhibiting photosynthesis in plants and drying out unwanted vegetation. It is particularly preferred in the post-planting and pre-seedling stages of legume, carrot, and potato production. However, exceeding established residue limits poses a serious threat to human health. High-dose exposure has been shown to negatively impact the liver, kidneys, and hormonal system, and can increase the risk of cancer in the long term.
CONSECUTIVE ALARMS ON EXPORTS FROM TürkiyeRecently, the European Union has been issuing frequent warnings for certain agricultural products imported from Türkiye. Previously, illegal pesticide residues or toxins were detected in dried figs, pomegranates, peppers, tomatoes, and nuts.
